19. November, 2021Weekly Buzz

When we pray together in school each day, we remember the lives of the saints and we count our many blessings, which include our family and friends, and everything that sustains us.  With Thanksgiving a week away, the school also counts its blessings daily as the dedication and sacrifice of families, teachers, parishioners, and others help us to serve our children.

I mention parishioners because the parish plays a large role each year in keeping our doors open.  The attached annual parish financial report summarizes the support provided the past two years by the parish and also shows that the school should not require a parish subsidy for the current school year thanks to the increase in enrollment!  Please review the annual report and let me or a member of the School Advisory Board know if you have any questions.  The next SAB meeting is Monday, November 22.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive wraps up today and once again your generosity is phenomenal as this afternoon our Greater Love team of parents and students boxed up 70 turkeys and 80 bags of Thanksgiving fixings to go to the Fr. McKenna Center and sent along an additional $790 to further support the center’s outreach for families facing food insecurity. Thank you for your commitment to helping those in need around us!

Because this is the final Buzz before the holiday, on behalf of Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Zanger in the office, all the teachers, aides, and staff, plus Monsignor Smith and everyone in the rectory, I pray that each of you can count many blessings this year when you gather for Thanksgiving, and please travel safely if you are on the road.  As always, may everyone have a blessed weekend!

In His service,

Mr. Ewanciw

Help Me Thanksgiving Day Prayer

O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer,

And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency;

bestir my compassion, and be concerned enough to help;

By word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Still collecting for Angel Pennies

Thanks to everyone who has already started donating their pennies to the Angel Penny program –  Every penny counts!   If your family is in need of support through The Angel Network, please contact Mr. Ewanciw, the Principal. Needs could range in nature from uniforms, CYO fees, field trip fees, eyeglasses, or any other expenses that a family may incur for their child to participate fully in their St. Bernadette School experience.  As we begin field trips and many other activities, the Greater Love Committee wants to remind everyone if any of these costs are a financial hardship for your family, please reach out to Mr. Ewanciw.  He can help cover costs using Greater Love funds so that your child can participate fully in St B’s events.  Other than Mr. Ewanciw knowing, this is an entirely confidential process. There is a blue bin labeled “Angel Pennies” in the front entrance of the school.
