DDW Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Application Due 12/3

Before I go any further, I want to remind all current families that today is the deadline to apply for Archdiocesan tuition assistance.  Please visit the ADW site for more information about this program, or apply now by logging into TADS.  If you have any questions about the ADW program, please contact tuitionassistanceprogram@adw.org.

We will remind you of several tuition assistance programs in the weeks to come and I encourage you to consider all of them.  Also keep in mind that our parish policy is to match any ADW awards, and this application is necessary to be considered for additional parish support including Fund-a-Scholar, so make sure you visit https://www.tads.com/.  While you’re there, please enroll your children for the 2022-2023 school year to take advantage of the $50 incentive if completed by December 31, 2021.  This will help us forecast teacher and resource needs during our budget meetings in January to set tuition for next year.  Thank you for your attention to this.

It’s been a busy week with all grades returning to school following Thanksgiving, and it’s reassuring to note that the temporary shift to remote learning for the lower grades has worked so far.  Before Thanksgiving 28 students had tested positive for Covid-19, but there have been none this week, so we are grateful to all who are helping us keep the school open for in-person instruction!

We are wrapping up the first week of Advent and each day we are helping the students better prepare for the birth of Christ at Christmas.  There are 13 days of school remaining in Advent and in this calendar year, with many activities taking place in and out of the classroom.  First, Breakfast with Santa will be hosted by the parish Holy Name Society this Sunday, December 4, following the 9:00 mass.  Come enjoy coffee, donuts, and fellowship as Santa welcomes the children!

On Monday the school will mark the feast day of St. Nicholas.  I’ve attached a resource for families about this celebration that includes a link to the St. Nicholas Center for additional ideas to share with your family.  Picture retake day is Tuesday, and school mass will shift to Wednesday for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.  We will present first quarter academic honors on Friday via Zoom after our rescheduled Morning Prayer at 8:05, and the HSAdvent pop-up shop happens late Saturday afternoon.

We look forward to you joining us in these and other opportunities to teach the importance of Advent to the children.  I pray you will enjoy a blessed and restful weekend and I will end this Buzz with the Prayer for Advent that I shared with the faculty and School Advisory Board this week:

As we begin our Advent journey, guide us, dear God of Love.  Help us to recognize the great gift You have given us in Jesus, and may we prepare well for His rebirth in our hearts.

On each day of this journey, may we move closer to Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the Light of the World.  Shine the light of Your grace upon us that we may follow Him faithfully.

In all our preparations for Christmas, may we always remember that Jesus is the reason for this blessed season.

Thank you, loving God for this time of joy and expectation.  Walk with us and show us the way today and every day of Advent.

In His service,

Mr. Ewanciw

During our CYO’s Christmas Tree & Wreath Sales that afternoon, the HSA will sponsor some food trucks and an SBS swag sale. The Urban Winery (owned by school parents!) will be setting up shop, along with local Lone Oak Brewery! Come buy your tree, mingle with old friends, meet some new friends, support local businesses, and enjoy the season!!

To increase the feeling of the Holy Spirit all around you, you can plan to attend the 5:00 PM mass before or after you visit HSAdvent. We hope to see you there!
