The Echo was a parish newsletter for many decades and the source for all important Saint Bernadette updates and info. The first annual Echo Dinner was held in 2019 to honor the class of 1962 for founding Fund A Scholar–providing need-based tuition assistance to deserving students who might not otherwise join our school.

Dear Saint Bernadette School Alumni and Friends,

By its very nature, an echo is expected to return, and I am excited to invite you to the second Echo Dinner which is back after a one-year lapse with a salute to our front line responders who have been so instrumental in the past 18 months.  So many of our alumni and school parents and friends have dedicated their lives to standing ready to help others, and it is fitting to recognize them not only for their guidance through the pandemic, but especially for their service on front lines for the past 74 years!

The initial Echo Dinner installed the entire Class of 1962 to the Honor Roll for its launching of the Saint Bernadette School Fund A Scholar program in 2019.  This program was created to keep the Saint Bernadette School experience attainable for more families and already has generated nearly $100,000 in financial support for our current students.  All proceeds from the 2021 Echo Dinner will be dedicated to lessening the financial burden of students next year, and the need is considerable as our tuition nears $10,000 annually and funding from traditional sources is limited. This fund provides small need-based grants to students and helps make a Saint Bernadette education affordable and accessible to all who wish to have one.

This year, Class of 1985 graduate Jennifer Zovko Herlihy will lead our first responders to be named to the Honor Roll.  Mrs. Herlihy served in the Army reserve and is now at Arcola Health and Rehab nursing home.  Her youngest child graduated from our halls last June, capping a long-running train of Zovko siblings and relatives at Saint Bernadette School, during which the family members were always instrumental in church and school functions.

On Saturday, November 20, 2021, friends from our school, parish and neighborhoods — past, present and future — will celebrate 74 years of Saint Bernadette memories at our homecoming dinner, “The Echo.” The evening features mass followed by cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres in the school hall.  Please join to honor Mrs. Herlihy and the many alumni whose service makes our nation strong.  Ticket information follows below.  In addition, if you have served as police, fire, military or healthcare, or know of classmates who have, would you let us know so we can salute as many of our alumni as possible this year?

On behalf of the students, families, faculty and staff of St. Bernadette School, thank you in advance for your support!
