Instrumental music is taught once a week to those students who wish to participate in the Archdiocesan Music Program.

• Band membership is open to all 4th to 8th grade students.
• Fees are paid directly to the Archdiocesan Band Program.
• The band classes are scheduled on a rotating basis during the school day.
• Concerts are given twice during the year.
• Financial aid is available through the Archdiocesan Band Program.

• Members must be in grades 4-8.
• After-school rehearsals are from 3:20 to 4:15 on Tuesdays in the school Music Room; other rehearsals will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, usually during lunch.
• Chorus sings at school liturgies on the First Friday of the month.
• The Chorus will perform in the Christmas Pageant and Spring Concert.  Other performances may be held periodically.

Each year, St. Bernadette School presents a spring production.  Students from grades 6-8 can participate in a variety of roles, whether as performances, stage crew or other activities.  Auditions may be necessary and rehearsals are after school. 

Junior High students can participate in the Math Counts competition held annually at the University of Maryland.  Members meet regularly for practice sessions after school.  Mr. Glass is the team moderator.

Crazy 8s is a free math club unlike any other! It offers unique, high-energy math activities that appeal to kids of all math abilities. Join Crazy 8s, where you’ll build stuff, run and jump, make music, and make a mess – it’s a totally new kind of math club! Make mischief and memories with activities including Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry, Bouncy Dice Explosion, and Pirate Treasure Hunt. You’ll get to take home some cool gadgets, too! Meets weekly after school from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

As Catholics, we are called by God to reach out and build relationships of love and justice. This is taught to us by Jesus Christ, who served and identified himself with the poor, the injured, and the marginalized in our world. One way our school works to promote social justice is through the ADL’s No Place for Hate program. The goal of the No Place for Hate program is to promote an understanding of the value and dignity of all members of our school community as well as encourage work towards greater justice and respect for those in our surrounding community. In the coming months, each classroom will be signing the No Place for Hate pledge. We will also be looking for parent and student volunteers who would like to help with No Place for Hate events and the committee. Would your 5th- 8th grade student benefit from help with organization and supervision of their homework assignments? Homework Club might be the place for them! Homework Club will operate in the library from 3:00-4:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Your family would have the option of signing up for 1, 2, 3 or 4 days per week. Families can sign their child up
for as many days a week that they feel would be beneficial. When they arrive at the Homework Club, students will eat a snack, take a short break, and then begin to work on homework supervised by teachers in a non-distracting environment. Our teachers will support students with organization, questions, or additional information they might need to complete the assignment. Although our goal will be to have
students complete homework during this time, some students may need additional supervision of homework after school depending on the number and complexity of assignments they have been given. Students may also need additional assistance studying for tests and quizzes.
