Greater Love Community Outreach
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”
– John 15:13
Greater Love is Saint Bernadette School’s social outreach initiative that all students, staff and school families participate in through a variety of service activities supporting community partners and special interests selected by our students.
St. Camillus Tag Days
Students are invited to donate $1 on the first Thursday of each month and dress out of uniform. Proceeds benefit St. Camillus Food Pantry in Silver Spring.
Tag days are: 11/4/21, 12/2/21, 1/6/22, 2/10/22, 3/3/22, 4/7/22, 5/5/22 & 6/2/22.
November: Thanksgiving Food Drive
TAG DAY 11/18

We will collect food to benefit Father McKenna Center. We will be collecting pantry food and turkeys to provide families with a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Last year, we collected 70 turkeys and 35 complete Thanksgiving dinners! In November, each grade will be assigned a certain food to bring in, and we ask all families to consider donating a turkey or collecting money as a class to purchase a turkey or two!
December: Book Drive
TAG DAY 12/14
We will collect books for the holiday season. Donated books, which may be new or gently used, will be Christmas presents for students from the St. Francis International School community, many of whom rely on the St. Camillus Food Pantry. More info to come in December.

March: Diaper Drive
TAG DAY 3/22
We will collect diapers and baby items for Christ Child Society. The Diaper Drive is St. Bernadette’s favorite! The students love to fill up the pack-n-plays located through the school with diapers and wipes – and usually we have more than two cars filled with the essentials for newborns in the region. More info to come in March.
Angel Network
The St. Bernadette School Community collects extra pennies for those in need within our school community ongoing throughout the school year. There is a large blue “Angel Penny” bucket on a table in the school lobby available to receive collected coins at anytime. All coins are deposited into the Angel Network account
Unforeseen needs may arise at any time for any family. Sometimes the unexpected need may occur at a time when a family cannot financially absorb it. The Angel Network was established for members of the school community to provide confidential, reliable and anonymous support for families who bring this need to the attention of our school principal. This need could range in nature from uniforms, CYO fees, field trip fees or any other expense that a family may incur for their child to participate fully in their St. Bernadette School experience. The donors and recipients remain anonymous.
Any member of the St. Bernadette community can become anonymous member of The Angel Network of individuals who may be called upon to make financial contributions to meet the need of a St. Bernadette School family. Network members do not know the identity of other network members and do not know the identity of the family in need. Solicitations for support are deployed as raised and needed.
